What is eVisa Saudi Arabia?
Despite the sheer diversity of the country from a tourism perspective, Saudi Arabia had lagged behind other Middle Eastern countries because of its rigid visa policies regarding foreign travelers. However, the country’s visa policy underwent dramatic changes as the government decided to open up its borders to international tourism.
To facilitate foreign travelers, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) launched an electronic visa or eVisa system in 2019. It marks the beginning of a brand new chapter in Saudi Arabia’s tourism history. The eVisa simplifies obtaining a Saudi visit visa, and eligible citizens from around the world, including European Union states, North America, Asia, and Oceania can apply for a visit visa to Saudi Arabia online.
Before the launch of an online Saudi Arabia tourist visa, travelers had to personally visit their local KSA consulate or embassy to obtain travel authorization. Moreover, Saudi Arabia didn’t offer a tourist visa at all. However, in 2019, the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially introduced an online Saudi Arabia visit visa system, also called e-Visa, electronic visa, or eVisa.
The electronic Saudi visa is a multiple entry visa that will be valid for one year. Those traveling with an eVisa can stay in the country for up to 90 days for recreation or tourism purposes, visiting family members or relatives, and perform Umrah (outside of Hajj season). This visa doesn’t apply to Saudi citizens or those living in Saudi Arabia.
Travelers from more than 50 eligible countries can apply for a Saudi Arabia tourist visa online to visit the country for leisurely purposes and stay for a maximum period of 90 days on a single visit.

Because I came across a website saying this will cause the person a three-year ban from the country.
A Saudi exit/reentry visa is a necessary document for beneficiaries who have relatives or domestic workers outside the KSA and employees who intend to leave Saudi Arabia and return within a certain amount of time.
A departure/reentry visa can only be changed into a final exit visa if the recipient is within Saudi Arabia. According to the General Directorate of Passports rules, ex-pats who left Saudi Arabia with a Saudi exit and reentry visa and did not return within the specified time would be prohibited from entering the Kingdom for three years (Jawazat).
The authorities also said that if the expatriate did not return within the time frame stipulated in the Visa, the employer would have to grant a new visa. Any expatriate who received an exit/reentry visa from Saudi Arabia will automatically have the phrase "exited and did not return" recorded after 2 (two) months.
In addition, the Jawazat indicated that it is no longer necessary to go to the Passport Department to record that the expatriate has gone and not returned, as it formerly was. The length of the entrance ban will be determined using the Hijri calendar and will begin when the Saudi exit/reentry visa expires.
Please be aware that the three-year entrance restriction from Saudi Arabia does not apply to dependents or those travelling with them. This ban is also not applicable to travellers holding iqama in Saudi Arabia.
This decision is taken as per decision no 825, which was issued in the year 1395 (Gregorian 1975) and stated that those who violated the rules would be fined the amount of SR10,000 and would face a ban from the country for three years. The reason for this ban was considered that people who switch their jobs very frequently using the Visa would be discouraged.
Follow the instructions below to check the status of your Saudi exit/reentry visa online:
- Activate the Muqeem webpage.
- Type in either your "Visa Number" or your "Iqama Number."
- Crossmatch by choosing one of the available choices, such as:
- Name, Passport Number, Visa Number, and Date of Birth
- Date Iqama Expires
- Visa End Date
- To check the status of your Saudi exit/reentry visa, click "Check."
If you are unable to log in, check the status on the aqeem portal with the given instructions on the website.
Please print out your Visa or take a snapshot of your visa status to present to the immigration officer.
The three-year ban is imposed on work visas, permanent family visas, family visit visas and business visas. However, the person can travel with a Hajj and Umrah Visa. In addition, there is no current ban on other GCC countries for the people who are banned from Saudi Arabia.
There is no mode to convert the reentry visa to the final exit visa. However, you can apply for the cancellation of iqama for the dependents. You can later use a Permanent family Visa as the reentry visa ban will not be applied to the dependents.
